Monique’s passion for eco-conscious beauty started early. Surrounded by family in the beauty industry, she intuitively prepped herself for a career that reflected the sensory memory of her childhood: scalp massages by her barbering grandfather, mixing essential oil concoctions in her bedroom, and using Vidal and Beverly Sassoon’s book “A Year of Beauty & Health” as a teenage-bible. She went on to become a student of aromatherapy and Ayurveda, inspired by the principles taught by Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher.
A beauty pro for over 20 years, Monique has worked in the color departments of top tier salons Bumble & Bumble and Frederic Fekkai, and specializes in both razor and dry cutting techniques. Among her achievements, Monique has earned Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best of Philly” award for women’s haircuts and has been a contributor to American Salon Magazine.

A native Philadelphian, Joe started his career in Philadelphia in the 80’s, went to Manhattan for a bit, then opened a salon in San Francisco where he honed his craft from the 90’s-2000’s. After settling back in Philadelphia with his wife, Joe worked at American Mortals for 18 years. Fun and charismatic, Joe’s clients enjoy his laid-back attitude and his obvious love for doing hair.
Joe has completed the Wella Master colorist training, trained at Redken Academy, Sassoon Academy, Nick Arrojo Academy, Tony & Guy NYC, and Bumble and Bumble.
Distinguished, Semi-social and fun, Murphy is wildly popular with clients at MOKO. Our salon mascot roams the premises, inspecting color and cuts for quality control, in between scouring for treats, seeking adoring pet rubs, and stealing the occasional towel from an unsuspecting guest (sorry!). His fan base, loves his on-site dog therapy, and mild yet mischievous manner. Murphy is hypo-allergenic and has been featured on the show Queer Eye. If you have any concerns about our furry ambassador, please let us know!
A consummate hairstylist, Vince has over two decades of experience in the hair industry, with a strong foundation in precision haircutting and coloring. Most of his career has been spent working in top-tier salons in Philadephia, and includes training as a colorist in Atlanta.
In his chair, you’ll find clients who love his eye for detail, humble nature, and intelligent conversations. In his time away from the chair, Vince enjoys spending time with his dogs, art, music, and organizing his daily life in his teensy notebooks he carries around.
